Description
Performs specialized assessments of adults; assesses developmental levels of adults by formal and informal methods in order to obtain evaluative data; observes and confers with staff, parents and significant others in order to collect information relative to the assessment process and to develop the Individual Plan/Occupational Therapy Plan Provides consultation services with staff, parents, guardians and/or significant others to ensure comprehension of occupational therapy objectives and to promote generalization of same in the home environment; serves as a resource person for staff in providing technical assistance and providing inservice training Prepares and maintains written records and reports as required on but not limited to, assessments, program objectives and progress data of regular evaluations and for revision of the Individual Plan and Occupational Therapy Plan Requests, secures and follows up on medical information relative to the Occupational Therapy Plan Develops, implements, evaluates and modifies the Occupational Therapy Plan for assigned individuals; maintains the assigned environment in a condition which is conducive for learning and free of health and safety hazards Evaluates need for and fabricates orthotic devices; fits and instructs in use of prosthesis; develops and/or selects and maintains occupational therapy equipment Supervises and provides occupational therapy treatment for adults in a training environment; provides direction for support services staff, volunteers and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants Participates in and/or provides staff training programs; reads professional literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills; provides transportation for employees Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team working with other staff in assessing, developing, implementing, evaluating and modifying the Individual Plan and Occupational Therapy Plan May perform delegated nursing tasks and/or procedures Performs other related duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with major course work in Occupational Therapy; one year experience providing occupational therapy services for persons with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities is preferred; must be able to lift and/or bend up to 50 pounds LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: OT License - Ohio OT/PT Board; valid Ohio Driver's License - Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
