Description
Assesses language/communication skills on identified students in order to identify the language development levels; schedules and conducts hearing screenings Prepares language/communication development objectives on identified students and uses appropriate strategies for providing instructional or therapeutic development of language/communication skills both individually and in small groups and in community; prepares materials including communication devices, schedules and assistive technology Implements and evaluates the results of language/communication development programs on referred students; makes referrals as appropriate Interprets results of formal and informal language/communication assessments and reports in order to design specific individual language/communication development objectives Provides consultation and/or in-service training to staff, family members, community agency staff and significant others to ensure continuity of language/communication development programming Participates as a member of the transdisciplinary team working with other professional staff in assessing, developing, implementing, evaluating and modifying the Individual Education Plan; provides training in a wide variety of community-based settings which may require using public transportation or driving a county vehicle Prepares and maintains written records and reports on, but not limited to, assessments, program objectives and progress data for regular evaluations and revision of Individual Education Plan as required Attends Language Development Specialist meetings to determine common problems and solutions May perform delegated nursing tasks and/or procedures Performs other related duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy or Speech and Language; Master's Degree preferred; one year experience in field of Mental Retardation preferred; must be able to lift, bend, push and pull up to 50 pounds LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Ohio Department of Education Certification; valid Ohio Driver's License - Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
