Description
Assists in the supervision and instruction of moderately, severely and profoundly retarded individuals in order to provide basic skill development in the areas of managing one's body, understanding self and others, ability to communicate, home and work responsibilities, ability to travel and leisure time activities; assists in the organization and supervision of extracurricular activities; receives direction from assigned staff; performs as substitute; assists in implementing daily lesson plan for assigned individuals in order to meet objectives as established on the Individual Habilitation Plan Assists in the preparation and maintenance of written records and reports as required on, but not limited to, attendance, program objectives and behavioral data for regular evaluation and for revision of Individual Plan Assists in maintaining an environment which is conducive for learning and free of health and safety hazards Attends to embarkation to and disembarkation from transportation vehicles Participates in and/or provides staff training program; reads professional literature and attends seminars, academic classes or workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills in areas such as, but not limited to, behavior modification, systematic training, counseling, normalization, mental retardation, instruction and/or curriculum development Attends and participates in staff meetings to obtain and provide information; provides transportation for employees May perform delegated nursing tasks and/or procedures
 
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent; one year experience in related field preferred; must be able to lift and bend up to 25 pounds; must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Adult Services Registration - Ohio Department of DD; valid Ohio Driver's License - Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; must hold valid American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification and must complete eight hours of approved DODD training
